We have a wide ranging activities, with significant in hand and contract farming enterprises as well as environmental schemes, rental property portfolio, house building, heritage, planning and development and pod building business. Set over 6,500a of land. The business farms both on the home farm as well as a large satellite contract farming relationship.

We are seeking a progressive working shepherd to join the team, based at our Lockerbie site. The successful individual will work closely with the wider farm team to deliver against specific KPIs.

The core of the role is focused around a 2000 mixed ewe flock, mainly highlander, producing both performance recorded breeding stock and fat lambs.

Candidate:

The job will be managing the day-to-day care of the sheep flock including all practical operations. This will be alongside helping with cattle work, fencing and other estate maintenance activities where required.

Successful candidates will be skilled in (some or all of)

•Sheep management and handling (principle role)

•Cattle experience

•Teamwork

•Record keeping and assurance

•Estate maintenance experience (fencing, general repairs etc.)

This job will suit as candidate that wants to be at the front end of farming (mainly livestock) practices. The farm is one of the largest in the area and is looking to deliver a product that is not subsidy reliant, can scale, and is delivering on proper stock management techniques as well as looking for how to deliver operational gains.
