We have a fantastic job opportunity for a Senior-Level Pig Stockperson near Canterbury, New Zealand.

The job is a unique opportunity on a family-run farm for a Senior Stockperson or Experienced Stockperson with leadership ambitions. You will combine people management with hands-on livestock farming in a progressive pig farming business that values work-life balance.

The unit is a 440-farrow-to-finish outdoor unit finishing 10,000 pigs annually.

About the Role

You will lead a team of 34 and manage the farms pig operations, delegating tasks and communicating priorities clearly

Supporting staff onboarding, training and development, and managing rosters

Overseeing all duties across all sow work and finishers.

Managing feed and animal health inventories

Upholding high standards of animal welfare and biosecurity

Around half of your time will focus on team leadership, the other half on hands-on farrowing

Work is varied and team-based, following three-week cycles of mating, farrowing and weaning. It combines close animal care with modern infrastructure and technology

Person Specifications:

Proven team leadership or strong potential to step up

Strong pig farming background

Strong communicator who builds positive team culture

Practical, hands-on, proactive problem solver

Commitment to animal welfare, biosecurity and high farming standards

Salary Package:

Competitive remuneration: NZD $75K-$90K
