EXCITING OPPORTUNITY POULTRY ASSISTANT MANAGER

Garstang, Lancashire

Salary: £40,000 per year negotiable depending on experience

Family house available just 0.4 miles from the poultry farm

We are looking for a motivated, reliable and enthusiastic Poultry Assistant Manager to join our established broiler poultry business near Garstang.

Applicants must have previous experience working within the poultry industry, ideally in broiler production. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced poultry worker who is ready to progress into a management position. We would also consider a graduate with relevant poultry experience who is looking for a supported development opportunity and a long-term career in poultry management.

Working closely with the Poultry Farm Manager, you will help manage the day-to-day operation of the farm and maintain excellent standards of bird welfare, biosecurity and flock performance.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring bird health, welfare and behaviour

• Managing feeding, watering, lighting and ventilation systems

• Monitoring temperature, humidity and air quality

• Recording feed and water consumption, weight gain, mortality and flock performance

• Maintaining accurate production and compliance records

• Supporting and supervising poultry farm staff

• Organising daily tasks and ensuring work is completed effectively

• Maintaining high standards of biosecurity, hygiene and cleanliness

• Monitoring poultry equipment and identifying maintenance requirements

• Supporting compliance with farm assurance, health and safety, welfare and environmental standards

The successful applicant will:

• Have previous practical experience working with poultry

• Understand poultry health, welfare and biosecurity

• Be practical, reliable and well organised

• Have excellent observational skills and attention to detail

• Be confident working independently and as part of a team

• Be able to solve problems and make sensible day-to-day decisions

• Be flexible and available to work weekends when required

• Be physically able to work within a poultry farm environment

A Poultry Passport qualification would be beneficial, although further training and support can be provided.
