Location: Pickering, North Yorkshire.

Salary: Competitive according to experience.

Hours: 2 week shift rota. Alternate weekends plus weekday off. Includes early morning/afternoon milking.

Driving licence: Essential due to location of the farm.

About Us:

We are a well-established, multi-site and family run dairy business. We are contracted with Arla Foods UK and we are looking for a new team member. The farm consists of a 500 autumn calving herd milked twice a day in a herringbone swing over parlour. We are committed to a supportive working environment, animal welfare and low carbon land management. We welcome applications from candidates with different skill sets and levels of dairy farming experience training will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience and develop a career in agriculture. It may also suit someone looking for a change, or keen to develop their supervisory skills.

Role:

•Milking: ensure safe and calm environment; preparation; carry out milking in line with cow status; wash down, clean and reset.

•Stockmanship/General livestock care: distributing feed; carry out daily herd observations; maintain bedding/animal comfort.

•Cleaning and maintenance: of the dairy, equipment, and farmyard; maintain hygiene standards; carry out scraping and routine yard cleaning.

•Machinery: carry out telehandler work in support of daily and seasonal farm operations.

•Assist with calving and calf rearing as required.

•Provide day-to-day supervision of the team and act as a key point of contact with managers.
