Location: West Lilling (9 miles north of York), North Yorkshire.

Hours: 2 week shift rota. Alternate weekends and week day off. Includes early morning/afternoon milking.

Essential Criteria: Driving licence - due to location of the farm.

Desirable criteria: AI & Foot trimming qualified.

About Us:

We are a well-established, organic, family run dairy business operating across multiple sites. As an Arla Foods UK contracted supplier, we are proud of our reputation for quality and sustainability. We are now seeking a herd manager to run our new farm, located just north of York. The grass-based herd will expand to 280 with spring calves as replacements. The facilities include a 24/48 herringbone swing-over parlour with auto drafting gate and housing cubicles. The farm is set in 80 ha grazing. Silage will be brought in from our other land holdings using our own drivers or contractors. Herd management is through SenseHub.

Role & responsibilities:

•Oversee and participate in daily dairy operations and day to day herd management.

•Ensure the highest standards of animal welfare. Oversee health monitoring and veterinary care.

•Meet business standards for milk quality and hygiene. Oversee and participate in cleaning schedules.

•Lead a small team and help develop their skills.

•Participate in telehandler work, quad bike driving and any other maintenance duties.

•Lead by example and assist with keeping the farm safe to work in.
