Exciting Career Opportunity on Family Run Dairy Farm

Progressive herdsperson required for 250 HF high genetic herd.

We supply milk on a lucrative milk contract so high herd health and welfare and a sustainable enterprise is essential. You will be required to participate in milking, care of freshly calved cows, cow health and welfare, young stock and calf duties, grassland management, maintaining a clean and tidy parlour, dairy and general farm appearance. All with the necessary guidance from the farm owner and senior staff.

The 10,000 litre herd are milked twice daily through a 24/24 HB parlour with 2 people in the pit. They graze extensively through the summer months with buffer feed and are cubicle housed during the winter. We run a closed herd with homebred heifers that are genomic tested at birth and the best heifers are served to sexed HF semen and the remainder to sexed/ conventional AA. We are vaccinated free BVD and practically zero johnes. AI is out sourced to a breeding company. There are fortnightly routine vet visits and monthly foot trimming with inhouse trimming too so there is an opportunity to learn/do foot trimming.

We also farm 650 acres comprising grass leys including red clover and herbal leys, maize and wheat all within the main homestead and close by.

A 3 bedroom family detached house with new kitchen and bathroom and large garden is within walking distance of the farm for a family situation or a 2 bedroom double glazed and central heated static caravan. A variety of shops and good primary and secondary schools are within a few miles.

5 day working week with attractive remuneration for the successful person according to experience.

We require from you to have a passion for dairying and wanting to connect with a nice herd of cows.

To be part of a team meeting the standards set and expected of our customer. Happy to take on any keen young person who wants to learn and progress.
