We're looking for an ambitious Herdsperson to join our farm near Burton on Trent, Staffordshire.
Our Farm:
We have 630 Spring calving NZ Friesian/cross bred cows, plus 160 heifers and 170 calves on our ring fenced 404ha grazing based farm, all subdivided into paddocks with excellent track and water infrastructure. We milk twice a day through our 40/80 herringbone parlour with simple in-parlour feeding and house our cows in 250 modern cubicles plus some loose housing. We have modern calf rearing facilities and machinery.

The role:
As a Herdsperson, you will be assisting with the day-to-day running of the farm and the herd. A big part of this role will be milking, other roles and responsibilities will include:
Tractor driving
Livestock handling
Foot trimming would be desirable, and if you are not qualified, it would be part of your training plan
Ensuring animal health and welfare are kept to the highest standards
Identifying and reporting cow concerns to management
Equipment & farm maintenance and repairs including fencing
Keeping the farm clean and safe to operate
Supporting other farm requirements when needed
You:
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate experience in milking, animal health and simple tractor driving with a passion for dairy farming, and who is willing to work as part of a team to deliver high-quality results. This is a varied role, so you will need to be highly motivated and be willing to grow as a team, in return we will offer a commitment to your ongoing development through excellent on and off farm training.
