Full-time position.

Due to a member of our team moving away, we are now looking for another person to join our small friendly team. We have thoroughly enjoyed having her as part of our team, and she has made a fantastic contribution during her years with us. As we look to welcome someone new into the role, we are seeking an individual who shares the same passion for dairy farming, with a particular interest in caring for dairy cows and calves.

We currently milk 350 Autumn and 100 Spring cows, calved in two blocks, through a 24/48 auto id and acr parlour.

We graze as much as possible, using a paddock system. The cows are cubicle housed in the Winter with automatic scrapers and fed using a self-feed silage clamp; this means that we do not have a feeder waggon and using the scraper tractor is a 5 minute job.

Hours are flexible, only one milking per day Monday to Friday and every other weekend off, plus one day off in the week every other week.

We run such a simple system here that we are able to train anybody keen to learn and willing to give our stock the best quality of care. We can provide on-the-job training as well as external training as needed. We regularly send staff on training courses in foot trimming and various vet-run clinics covering a range of topics. We work closely with our vet to ensure a high standard of welfare for the animals, and they regularly give training on specific jobs such as drying off cows.

Day-to-day activities include milking, feeding calves, and management of both grassland and stock.

Salary is dependent on experience; if little or no training is required, then you will start at a higher salary. If you have less experience, you will start on a lower salary and see regular pay increases as you gain experience. We have a competitive basic salary and also offer a company pension for all employees and 28 days holiday per annum. Salary will be paid monthly by bank transfer. We are committed to rewarding our team fairly, with annual salary increases provided to all employees to help maintain pay in line with inflation.
