Robotic Dairy Farm | Near Knutsford, Cheshire

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated individual to join our dairy farming business near Knutsford, Cheshire.

We operate a high-yielding robotic dairy herd of approximately 100 Holstein cows plus followers, averaging around 10,000 litres per cow, and are proud Tesco-aligned milk producers. Our focus is on excellent animal welfare, herd performance, genetics, modern farming practices and continual improvement.

This is a varied, hands-on role covering livestock care, machinery operation, field work and general farm maintenance. However, we are not simply looking for another farm worker. We are looking for an ambitious individual who wants to develop their career, take on increasing responsibility and become an important part of the future of the farming enterprise.

Reporting directly to the Farm Manager, the position has been created with development and progression in mind. Alongside the practical day-to-day running of the farm, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and involvement in herd performance, breeding and genetics, robotic milking systems, youngstock development and wider farm management.

For someone with the right attitude and ambition, there is genuine scope for the role to develop considerably over time.

Daily & Routine Duties

Feeding livestock.

Scraping and bedding livestock accommodation.

Monitoring livestock health, welfare and behaviour.

Assisting with calving and youngstock management.

General animal husbandry.

Monitoring herd performance and identifying potential issues.

General yard duties and maintaining high standards of farm presentation.

Supporting the day-to-day operation of the robotic milking system.

Field & Machinery Work

Tractor driving.

Slurry and tanking operations.

Buckraking and grassland work.

Mowing and feeding operations.

Telehandler operation.

Machinery maintenance and daily checks.

General farm maintenance and practical repairs.

The Successful Candidate

You will:

Have previous dairy farming experience.

Be confident working independently and taking responsibility for daily tasks.

Have experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery.

Have a good understanding of livestock husbandry and animal welfare.

Have an interest in herd performance, breeding and genetics.

Be capable of basic machinery and farm maintenance.

Have exceptionally high standards and strong attention to detail.

Be reliable, hardworking and willing to take responsibility.

Communicate well and work effectively as part of a small team.

Most importantly, have the ambition to learn, develop and progress.

Experience with robotic milking systems would be advantageous but is not essential, as training can be provided.
