Mixed Farming Stockperson

Full time general farm work, mainly beef and sheep production, and some tractor work on a 1600ac mixed family farm in South Oxfordshire.

The job can be tailored for the candidate, but will mainly involve stockwork overseeing the suckler herd and lambing flock.

We run a range of modern equipment including GPS and carry out nearly all operations in house.

We carry out a large straw operation during the summer carting and stacking bales.

The livestock side of the business would mainly be revolving round the 250 head suckler cow herd and 400 ewe breeding flock. We will be calving 200 cows in the spring and the candidate would need to have previous experience calving and preferably lambing. Looking after fresh calves and cow health will be part of the job with potential for TMR work. We turn all of the spring calvers outside and there would be stock checking and feeding throughout the summer.

The arable side of the business would revolve around some tractor work on the 1000ac of combinable crops and the maize and grass establishment. This may include working with modern machinery and GPS. Candidates would need to have previous experience and be organised, as there would be a level of record keeping and maintenance expected with the role.

The stockperson role would be working closely with a small team, with all employees doing most jobs.

The candidate:

Essential to have experience in large animal handling and suckler cow work.

Telehandler ticket and loading shovel experience would be preferable

Someone who can work well individually at a given task but also work well in a team

TMR experience would be an advantage

PA1 & PA2 and have previous experience using GPS (Greenstar and Trimble) would be an advantage

Full UK driving license essential
