Herdsperson / 2IC

We are looking for aconscientious individual with a real passion for cows to become a part of a forward thinking team on our family run dairy farm near Stratford-upon-Avon.

We have 300 high yielding Holstein Friesians averaging 8800l. The farm was built on a greenfield site and has excellent facilities including new housing with automatic scrappers and a fully computerised, auto ID, Dairy Master 14/28 Swiftflo parlour with auto drafting and backing gate. MooMonitor + parlour and auto drafting linked, heat detection system.

The herd is Autumn calving and housed in the winter (TMR fed) and grazed in the summer (April-October). All replacements reared on farm. All AI is done in house using Genus accredited bulls and utilising Dairy Master Moo Monitor plus heat detection system.

Selling milk via a ARLA WelfarePRO + grazing contract, so attention to detail is essential.

The successful applicant will work closely with my self and other team members to maintain and improve farm performance, whilst maintaining the high standards required for a ARLA milk contract.

The job role is to be involved in all areas of a expanding farm enterprise. Duties to include:

Lead Milker (Maintaining and setting standards)

Maining and setting pre and post calving protcols

Vet and med duties including liaising with vet when required

Using "SUM-IT" computer herd management software

Using DairyMaster Moomonitor heat detection system

Tractor and telehandler duties

Although training can be given in all these areas

The position would suit a person who is self-motivated and enthusiastic, has a solid knowledge of Dairy cows and is looking to progress their career by setting and maintaining herd standards a good sense of humour.

Ideally candidates require a Telescopic handler certificate, are competent at AI and have experience in foot trimming. However, additional training can be provided in key areas to increase skill set.

Regular time off each week.

Accommodation located on farm in form of a new build 3/4 bed family house. Including garden, patio, kitchen dinner, master bedroom with on-suit bathroom and family barhroom

Salary dependant on experience and qualifications with accomdation coming as part of the package.
