Who We Are

Were a farmer-owned grain cooperative based near Chichester, West Sussex, storing 25,000 tonnes of cereals and oilseeds for both human and animal consumption. We work closely with local growers to make sure grain entering and leaving our site meets the highest quality and safety standards. Our lab team plays a key role in this and were looking for a Laboratory Assistant to join them.

What Youll Be Doing

As a Laboratory Assistant, youll be part of the day-to-day action in our grain lab. Your work will help ensure grain is tested accurately and efficiently, supporting both our operations and our members.

Your tasks will include:

•Carrying out quality tests on incoming and outgoing grain

•Preparing samples and keeping records up to date

•Entering results into our computer systems

•Keeping the lab clean, organised, and well maintained

•Liaising with our yard team to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles in and out of the site

•Following safety and quality procedures at all times

What Were Looking For

A good attitude, an appetite to learn, and a sense of humour are essential. A few skills that would be helpful include:

•Being reliable, organised, and having good attention to detail

•Being comfortable using computers and learning new systems

•An interest in agriculture, food production, or science

•Enjoying working as part of a team

•Being prepared to work longer hours during peak periods, including weekends, through the harvest season

Its a bonus if you have:

•Some experience in a laboratory, agriculture, or a food-related role

•A relevant agricultural qualification

Harvest Season

This is a seasonal role, running from the start of July through to the end of September, covering the harvest period

Harvest is our busiest time of year (typically July to September), and flexibility during this period is essential. Working hours can be longer, and weekend work is likely.
