Business Background:
We are a family run, mixed farming business, based in Oxfordshire comprising a modern poultry operation, biomass plant making use of the poultry litter, arable and beef enterprises plus commercial office and industrial units. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, ideally with experience of working with poultry, to fill this vacancy. We combine the traditional values of mutual respect, personal responsibility and reward for effort and experience, with the use of up-to-date technology and practices in our well-run broiler unit.
Overview of the Role:
The job is to look after the health and welfare of birds and run the poultry unit in collaboration with the Poultry Manager. The chicks arrive at our unit at a day old and leave at around 38 days. You would be responsible for their growth and wellbeing during their stay as well as keeping the poultry unit clean, well maintained and fully operational.
Applications will be considered from people with less experience who could start as poultryman and work their way up to Assistant Poultry Manager.
The job requires working every other weekend and responding to possible alarm calls on alternate nights during the crop.
