Other livestock experience

I have over 20 years of extensive experience working within the dairy farming industry, with hands-on experience across a wide range of herd sizes, from 60 to 1,000 cows. I have a strong interest and practical knowledge in herd health, mobility, fresh and dry cow management, and grassland management.

I take a particularly hands-on approach to youngstock management, closely monitoring their development and progress through every stage to ensure they achieve their full potential.

Throughout my career, I have also gained considerable experience working with beef cattle, alongside practical experience in lambing and pig husbandry. I am a hardworking, reliable and practical individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards of animal welfare, health and performance.

Farming background

I have extensive milking experience across a wide range of parlour systems, from 6-unit tandem parlours through to 60-point rotary parlours, working with dairy herds ranging from 50 to 1,000 cows. This has given me a broad understanding of different milking systems, herd sizes and farm management practices.

I am highly proficient in farm administration and herd management software, including BCMS, Uniform, HerdWise, All4Feet, CowManager and CIS, and am meticulous when it comes to record keeping, organisation and maintaining accurate herd and farm records.

As a manager, I am organised, confident, fair and approachable. I lead by example and take a hands-on approach to management, working alongside my team and taking an active interest in the training, development and progression of the people I manage. I believe in setting clear standards while supporting and encouraging my team to achieve them.

Following a two-year break from farming, I am now looking to return to the industry and secure a new long-term role where I can utilise my extensive experience, practical knowledge and management skills, while continuing to develop and contribute to the success of the farm and its team.
