Currently :

Stockman on estate with 700 mixed breed cows . Daily duties include herd health , rotational grazing ,buffer feeding out silage bales if rough grazing requires it, ensuring minerals and salt are refilled ,bedding housed cattle ,feeding housed cattle, and when required working with estate cattle manager to move cattle.I mainly work independently at my current role

Previous:

170 milking cows and 300 youngstock. My roles have encompassed the full spectrum of livestock husbandry and farm operations, including:

Rotational Grazing Management: involved in the planning and implementing rotational grazing systems to optimise grass utilisation and herd health. Set up and maintained temporary and permanent electric fencing systems across multiple paddocks.

Animal Health and Welfare: Carried out routine health checks and assisted in foot trimming, including identification and treatment of lameness. Administered drugs and vaccinations under vet direction and off own initiative, ensuring accurate dosing and adherence to withdrawal periods.

Calving Management: Oversaw all aspects of calving, including monitoring close-up cows, assisting with difficult births, and ensuring timely colostrum intake for newborns. Provided aftercare for cows and calves, including tagging, navels

Record Keeping: Maintained accurate and up-to-date records for herd health, calving events, treatments, and movement data, using both paper-based logs and digital systems (dairy manager C21)

Winter Housing Routines: Took responsibility for all winter tasks including daily bedding, scraping, cleaning sheds, and monitoring ventilation to maintain optimal housing conditions.

Feeding and Nutrition: Carried out daily feeding for cows and youngstock using TMR (Total Mixed Ration) systems and forage wagons. Managed silage and concentrate intakes in accordance with nutritional plans and seasonal needs.

Youngstock Rearing: Rearing of calves, including milk feeding, weaning and disbudding

Teamwork and Independence: Worked both independently and as part of a larger team, demonstrating reliability, time management, and adaptability in a fast-paced, high-output dairy environment.

This experience has provided me with a strong foundation in herd management, biosecurity, livestock handling, and welfare, equipping me to take on both operational and some managerial responsibilities on livestock and dairy farms to date and I am looking for the next challenge next step up in my career I am highly driven to succeed .
