Since February 2023 I have worked on a progressive dairy, beef and arable farm in Somerset. My jobs vary from youngstock rearing to tractor work and most things in between, however my main interest is in beef farming.

I am confident driving a telehandler and have carried out most loading jobs ranging from loading straw bales onto trailers, loading grain lorries, feeding silage bales and loading the mixer wagon. I have done a wide variety of tractor work from hauling grain and straw bales to topping and power harrowing. I am also confident feeding with a mixer wagon.

Other livestock experience

I have reared calves and have completed a youngstock foundation course through synergy farm vets as well as a safe cattle handling course through synergy. I am confident in spotting and treating common illnesses. I am also trained in the safe use of veterinary medicine. I can dehorn/disbud calves. I have helped with grazing management including electric fencing, topping and plate metering. I also regularly carry out routine livestock and yard work including weighing animals, feeding TMR and bedding up with a straw chopper. I have helped with a few calvings but would need practice to be confident.

I like fishing and pest control with my air rifle, I used to go beating on game shoots in the winter and would like to get back into it.

I broke my collar bone on 10/11/2022 but it is fully healed.

13/02/2023-Present. Working on a progressive dairy, beef and arable farm in Somerset, carrying out a wide variety of jobs including stock work, calf work and tractor driving, as well as general estate work.

10/01/2022-02/12/2022. General farm worker on a 500 acre family farm which rears game birds and has a herd of mixed beef cattle and rearing calves in the winter.

01/11/2021-06/01/2022. Shop assistant in a feed merchant and country store dealing with deliveries and helping customers.

12/05/2021-27/08/2021. Seasonal game farm worker rearing pheasants and partridge.
