Employed as one of 3 Beatkeepers for the estate. I still look after the same beat as under my previous employer. Shooting 46 days per season, ranging from 120 to 800 bird days and a mixture of pheasant partridge and duck.

Reason for leaving- Due to change of lease ownership.

Employed as the Underkeeper on a private pheasant and partridge shoot in Hampshire. I looked after the pheasant beat which comprises of a mixture of woodland, arable and parkland over 2000 acres. Shooting 20 days through the season for my employer with consistent 400 to 600 bird days. Also provide the land owner with 6 smaller family days shooting between 100 to 150 as per the terms of the lease. My role as Underkeeper includes the production of gamebirds from April through to September. This involves catching up laying stock in January, collection of eggs from April to June, erecting the rearing field and sheds, then rearing gamebird chicks from day olds.

•Carry out deer management as per the shoot lease for Fallow, Roe and Muntjac

•Building and repairing shoot infrastructure, such as the addition of a hut for guns to enjoy elevenses in.

•Repair and maintenance of machinery and vehicles.

•Running traps and snares all year round in line with the NGO trapping and snaring best practice guide.

•Maintain and manage woodland.

•Liaise with tenant farmer when matters arise, such as cover crops and their crop rotation.

•Liaise with local rural crime police officer regularly to keep updated on local crime and poaching incidents.

•Provide security watches to the estate and surrounding villages to deter crime and poaching.

Reason for Leaving Looking to be employed on a full time basis.

Employed as the Gamekeeper for a military shoot for the past 4 years. Worked closely with the RSPB and Natural England in the management of SSSI areas. Addressed a number of issues prior to taking over the gamekeeper position and devised a plan of action on these. Built up an excellent relationship with the RSPB and Natural England. I was required to produce risk assessments for work carried out in relation to habitat management and pest control, these risk assessment were then provided to Defence Infrastructure Organisation and the MOD head forester.

•Provide shooting for guns consisting of serving and retired officers.

•Released pheasants, partridges and mallard over 1700 acres.

•Planned and carried out habitat management, performed under the MOD forestry strict policy.

•Involved with a Grey partridge reintroduction program.

•Developed habitats of both wild gamebirds and waterfowl.

•Maintained and managed SSSI areas with guidance from Natural England.

•Provided the RSPB with predator control on an adjoining site.

•Assisted the RSPB with Little Tern breeding grounds (2015).

•Assisted Chichester Harbour Conservancy in a Lapwing breeding study (2015).

•Assisted Chichester Harbour Conservancy in a Barn Owl breeding study (2015).

•Kept up to date records of game bag and created a separate record of vermin bag along with mapping to aid conservation organisations with data collection.

Reason for Leaving To pursue a career in game keeping.

Employed as a ground to air missile operator in the Royal Artillery in 2006. In 2008, re-rolled as an unmanned air vehicle pilot and deployed to Iraq, providing covert surveillance to coalition and Iraqi forces. Promoted to Lance Bombardier and became the deputy manager for the motor transport department in 2010. As a Lance Bombardier, I had in excess of 40 personnel that I supervised on a daily basis. In my final year of service, I was posted to the Royal Artillery Equestrian Centre. Here my duties, along with the day to day care of the horses, included the maintenance of paddocks and tractor driving. During my time as a soldier, I was required to follow strict health & safety procedures and produce risk assessments for a verity of activities.

•Took charge of the loading and unloading mission critical supplies across the UK on a weekly basis.

•Conducted multiple road movements within the UK and on operations to meet specific deadlines dictated by superiors.

•Upheld and reinforced the values and standards of the British Army.
