Farming background

My background is predominantly sheep-based however I took a second job on an organic dairy farm in Wales to fit around shepherding and managing a suckler herd back in 2018. I helped milk twice a day and disbudded calves. Currently, I am in charge of milking 250 HF and 50 Guernseys and spent 3 months last summer taking responsibility for the milking and general management of the herd after the herdsperson became injured. I have experience with assisting at calving and have also worked in the calf rearing unit and am confident and capable of tubing calves and training onto buckets, castrating, disbudding etc. I am enthusiastic, passionate and driven. I am willing and eager to learn and always seek out training opportunities and CPD.
