2019 - 2020
Spent 7 months working on a large-scale dairy farm in New Zealand. General care and full responsibility for calf rearing which involved feeding, health monitoring and day to day care of approximately 400 calves.
2020 - 2022
Assistant Dairy Herdswoman on a 200 cow farm. Involved in all aspects of herd health and daily management, including calving, drying off, routine veterinary visits, foot trimming schedules and overall cow welfare. This role really cemented my practical knowledge and confidence within dairy farming.
2022 - 2024
Briefly left farming to pursue a military career, during which I met my now husband and ultimately chose a different path. I then moved into a more conventional 9to5 role within an NHS histology laboratory. While interesting, it confirmed that farming is very much where I belong.
2024 - Present
Returned to dairy farming and currently working as a relief milker on an 800 cow unit with a 60 point rotary and continuing to build experience.
