Total of 12 months experience between 2 farms milking cows. Milked 350 cattle in a rapid exit parlour as well as milking 300 cattle in rotary parlour. Duties also included maintaining parlour hygiene, putting wash out on, health checking cattle, identifying mastitis, looking for lame cows & bulling cows.

Calf rearing experience on dairy farm rearing calves (Holstein Friesians, Limousin Cross & British Blue Cross) from birth to weaning. Duties include colostrum management, feeding calves & monitoring weaning process, bedding calves, health checking calves & administering medication, disbudding calves with caustic paste, maintaining shed hygiene etc.

Assist with flock of approx. 200 Lleyn ewes. Helping with lambing sheep & associated duties, moving sheep, dosing etc. Some quad bike experience.

Worked with a herd of Red Poll cattle at Shuttleworth College carrying out vaccinations, health checks, assessing condition of stock for breeding and slaughter, some calving, feeding, mucking out, and grooming for show.

Worked with a flock of approximately 250 Suffolk Cross sheep at Shuttleworth college carrying out tasks such as vaccinations, worming, feeding pet lambs,navel dipping, castration, tail docking, ear tagging and hoof trimming. I was also chosen as a stockjudge for breeding ewes as part of the Smithfield Show in 2016. I have observed shearing as well.

I have some experience with goats at college carrying out basic tasks such as mucking out, feeding, grooming and health checks.

I am a very outdoorsy person so spend as much of my time as I can outdoors. I enjoy walking my Welsh Sheepdog. I also enjoy foraging and sea fishing,wild camping and learning about wildlife. I have an interest in hunting and processing wild game as well. Photography is another hobby of mine and I mainly take photos of the landscape, nature and my dog. I also enjoy cooking, baking and making preserves from foraged goods.

I am 23 years old, and although I do not have a farming background the agricultural industry is something I enjoy working in, ideally with livestock as I have always wanted to work with animals. Where would you like to work?

I would ideally like to work on a livestock farm and prefer calf rearing or shepherding work but would also like to have a go working with a suckler beef herd. A position where accommodation is available essential.
