Throughout my farming career, I have worked on three farms as an assistant in the management of livestock, sheep, beef cattle, pigs and chickens. I operate and maintain many types of farm machinery. I provide support in animal husbandry including all tasks involved in wintering in cattle, fencing, lambing, calving, mob grazing, fixing equipment, hay making, administering drugs and vaccines, bolusing, sending cattle off for slaughter, and foot trimming.
Currently I manage 250 ewes and 400 lamb flock on my own, running 200 acres, I am overseeing all aspects of animal care, breeding, health, and nutrition. During this period I have implemented rotational mob grazing practices in order maximise pasture health and animal productivity. During lambing, I work on my own assisting all births and provide care to new born lambs and mothers. Through careful planning and attention to detail I maintain records of animal health and births to inform breeding and culling decisions.
