Grass, bales, maize and wholecrop harvesting using modern equipment both on fields and A roads, as well as maintenance and servicing of kit. Tedding, mowing, raking and carting of crops all undertaken.

Grew up on a dairy, beef and sheep farm and been involved with everything from daily milking to TB testing, worming/fluking, dehorning, weaning etc. Also completed a year in NZ working on spring block calving systems followed by a senior herdsperson job in Gloucestershire at a flying herd.

2023-2025. LJ & MD Righton, Dorn. Herdsperson. Milking 280 all year round calving, cross bred cows through a 20/40 GEA parlour. Identifying and inseminating cows in heat. Spotting and treating lame cows. Organising and overseeing monthly PD visits.

2022-2023. Cavarna farming rakaia and geraldone NZ. 2IC milking 800 cows through 50point rotary then moved to 750 in 40/80 herringbone. Regularly carried out grassland walks and determined grazing plans. Managed 2 other workers within the team to maximise productivity.

2009-2022. Home Dairy Farm with sheep and beef side enterprises. Milking 170 through a 2016 16/32 auto ID Delaval parlour. Feeding, fieldwork and roadwork all done with modern loader tractors. Stockwork done with family using atv. Fencing and all machinery maintenance done in house too.

Sept 18-Sept 19. Dairy Farm

Milking and tractor work using TMR feeding system and Kramer telehandler to optimise milk yields through accurate feeding using weighcells on diet feeder. Milking 100 pedigree holsteins and managing younstock with auto calf feeders.

March 20-May 20. Lambing season in Launde.

Working in a lambing team doing long hours lambing 2000 sheep indoors on high intensive TMR fed system. Checking sheep 24hrs a day (often night shifts) and cooperating with team members to ensure all sheep lamb safely and are marked, sorted and penned up according to farm protocol.
