I have done a lot of siloing such as Mowing on 2 10ft mowers, rowing up,tedding, tractor trailer work, telehandler work and Ive also worked in New Zealand contracting for a year. There I did discing, rockpicking and siloing.I have also used a chainsaw before, but dont have a chainsaw ticket.
From 14 I relief milked on a dairy farm at the weekends. Here i was taught to milk by myself and find ill cows such as ones with mastitis. At 16 I went to myerscough college. Here I did a level 3 extended diploma in agriculture course for two years. This taught me a variety of stockmanship skills and how to incorporate new technology with livestock. After college I returned home to work on the family farm.we have 1000 beltex x texel sheep. From as long as I can remember,i have always worked with these I have experience in dosing and injecting them, belly clipping lambs, sorting fat lambs of every week for auction, finding lame lambs and sheep, preparing sheep ready for lambing and tups ready for tupping and I have a lot of experience in lambing. While working at home I was In charge of 2 staff, during the day and I know how to lamb sheep and know when to step in when I am needed.I have also worked with 300 beef cows as to which get fattened and sell for slaughter. I also go and help out shearing sheep in summer and I am currently training up an Australian cattle dog to work sheep. As well as my sheep work, I relief milk 500 Holstein cows every morning, here I am In charge of the milking parlour and I decide what and when to inject an ill cow with, look out for lame cows and look out for Ill cows. The reason for leaving home and venturing of somewhere new,is because I would like to make my own path in farming .
