Also previous experience with Beef farming, I had a short break from farming where I worked as a Groundworker/Machinery Operator on sports construction sites, my day-to-day role involved carrying out a wide range of groundworks and operating various types of machinery to prepare and develop sports facilities. I operated excavators, dumpers, tractors and other plant equipment to excavate, move and spread materials, level and grade ground, prepare sub-bases and assist with drainage installation. I also carried out general site preparation, including digging trenches, laying and connecting drainage pipes, moving soil and aggregate, compacting ground and preparing areas for sports pitches and playing surfaces. I worked closely with site managers and other members of the team to follow plans and instructions, ensuring work was completed accurately and efficiently while maintaining a safe and organised working environment. I also carried out daily machinery checks, basic maintenance and cleaning, followed health and safety procedures, and adapted to different tasks and ground conditions throughout each project.
