have grown up in and around farmers and farming my whole life, with most of my school friends working or living on a farm. most of my family are now either working on a farm or have worked in and around the industry with my mum growing up around contractors and my dad growing up and working on a farm estate in fife.
i left school at 16 and got to play national rugby for 2 years which has helped to develop me as a person and as a team player. After a serious injury to my knee i was forced to give it up and then focus on my work life. I went the Scottish Rural University College and studied agriculture so that i would have some of the basic knowledge need for the workplace.
I have worked previously part time as a milker,East Ayrshire. Where we milked 280-300 high yielding Holstein cattle, rearing all milk replacers through AI and selling the bullocks through the local market.5
I then got a chance to go work with a farm who specialises in home bred genomics in there pedigree holstein herd of showing cattle. At ************Holsteins i assisted in the day to day maintenance of the 10 Lely A5 robots. whilst here i got to work and learn from some of the best farmers in Scotland.
upon leaving here i was offered a place in the west Wales on a mixed arable/ dairy unit who milked 1000 cows through a 80point rotary parlour, whilst there i got to experience driving a self propelled forage harvester, i only really got to do a few hundred acres.
