Farming background

After a very successful 12 year career in the Royal Engineers I returned to Engineering, where I was employed as a Welding supervisor for the production of heavy plant equipment. Over the past 22 years I have gained a large amount of experience in both Civil and Production Engineering. I have been involved in planning and managing projects, including whilst on Operations overseas, and providing infrastructure to countries in the Commonwealth. This experience has resulted in my being able to remain determined and work to targets in high pressured environments, as well as developing excellent skills in both independent working and team collaboration. I have been responsible for large numbers of personnel, vehicles, materials and resources. I have also had responsibility for planning, procurement and compiling detailed reports on the progress of operations. Further to this, I was selected to be an Instructor at a training regiment where I gained managerial and teaching qualifications. Here my duties entailed planning and delivering training programs, formulating and delivering safety plans and carrying out generic and site specific risk assessments. These incorporated the Safe Handling of Explosives Regulations, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) and Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER). I have always been keen to learn in each role I have had, allowing me to develop my knowledge and gain new skills, an attribute I would like to take forward. I work exceptionally well to deadlines, have very high personal standards and targets, a desire to excel and can offer a substantial range of experience and knowledge to an employer that shares these values.
