Other Information

My current role at Heckfield Estates involves me overseeing the day-to-day management and coordination of all the enterprise on the estate. Ensuring that we can deliver the farm to fork ethos to our hotel, Heckfield Place which is situated on the estate. The estate aims to meet the needs of our high-end clientele by whatever means necessary. In a previous role I was fortunate to be involved with a £3 million investment into a dairy unit development, which added to my skill set. Giving a better understanding of planning applications and the work associated with the submission. Completion of the CMI Level 3 Management and Leadership qualification has helped me further in formalising my leadership style. I thrive on accountability and delivery, and this role provides these opportunities. The fast pace and anything is possible attitude makes this role even more attractive. I also see a new role as an excellent opportunity to drawn on my external leadership experience as Chairman of the Ellingham and Ringwood Agricultural Society. One of my key responsibilities in this role is the successful delivery of the annual show. Through effective stakeholder management, team work and valuing others I made a significant percentage increase in revenue in my first year in the role and since have made significant changes year after year. Legal and extensive regulatory compliance including with the Health and Safety Executive, is just a small part of my key responsibilities in this role.

EXPERIENCE

May 2026 to Present

Farm Manager Heckfield, Hampshire

As Farm Manager, I am responsible for the day-to-day management of a diverse farming enterprise that supports the estate's field-to-fork ethos, supplying high-quality produce to the estate hotel and its guests. I oversee the management of the dairy herd, pigs, sheep, and poultry, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare, productivity, and presentation.

My role includes planning and coordinating daily operations, managing staff and contractors, maintaining machinery and infrastructure, overseeing estate maintenance, and ensuring compliance with health and safety and environmental standards. Working within a high-end hospitality environment, I take pride in delivering exceptional quality while balancing the commercial, agricultural, and environmental objectives of the estate.

June 2016 to May 2026

Assistant Shepherd/ Relief Pigman Sparsholt College, Winchester, Hampshire

In my current role as Assistant Shepherd/ Relief Pigman I am responsible for assisting with the day to day running of both enterprises, ensuring a high standard of welfare is met. Due to staffing issues I've also had a limited input on the dairy and suckler units. Throughout the farm I've helped maintain our goals as a team, of being able to give knowledge and practical skills to the students training on the college farm.

September 2013 to June 2016

Relief Stockman Sparsholt College, Winchester, Hampshire

While I was studding agriculture at Sparsholt College, I was given the opportunity to do some relief work for the college farm. This involved me being able to assist over all of the college's enterprises, mainly at lambing and over the Christmas period at the dairy. Over this time, I developed some important key skills enabling me to move forward.

April 2010 to May 2014

General Farm Worker, Salisbury, Wiltshire

Before I left school I did part-time work, on a local sheep and beef farm. These were some of my first steps into the agriculture industry. While I was at the Chedgey Partnership I assisted with all aspects of the farm. I really enjoyed the work I did, and knew that this was the career for me.
