Im currently a herdsperson/herd manager on a 500 cow unit and do all mornings and most afternoon Milkings successfully completed a AI course, good amount of foot trimming experience but haven't actually done a qualification, all aspects of calf rearing covered, treatment of mastitis cows, recognition and treatment of sick cows ie LDA, keto cows etc etc, can tmr feed, scrapping most aspects of dairy farming I've covered working where I am currently working

Farming background

I've been brought up on a 5000 acre arable farm. Worked for various contractors when I left collage, always had a passion for cows then went to work on a big beef unit back in Northumberland where I originate from. I started relief milking on weekends as well as this full time job and that's where I discovered my love for dairy farming. I then moved down to Somerset to peruse my career in the dairy industry however ended up working for a contractor alongside looking after a suckler herd and rearing dairy calves. I've done a fair bit of dairy up home and then moved out of home to continue dairy farming, since then we are expecting a baby now and have moved back to Northumberland to where i started dairy farming however the housing isn't big enough for when our little one comes and there's no option to get anything bigger so now require a family home
