Mechanic (after leaving college)- 6 years, at a local JCB/Valtra dealer as a mechanic. Mechanic - 1 year in New Zealand at a Class dealer, mainly working on combines.

Other livestock experience

Brought up on a small mixed farm handling most livestock, growing up. Helped out on friends farms, both here and in New Zealand helping with lambing/calving on beef and dairy farms. Also worked for several months on a deer farm farming red deer for venison.

For the past 6 years I have been the solo worker on a beef finishing farm finishing 300 head a year mainly on contract.

Farming background

Brought up on small mixed farm, worked on arable farm in UK, helped on livestock farm in UK and NZ. After qualifying with btec nation diploma in land based engineering at Askham Bryan college, I worked at as a mechanic for the local JCB dealership. After which I went to New Zealand where as well as working in a Claas dealership I also worked on diary, sheep and beef farms. On returning to the UK I worked on a sheep, beef and arable farm for 10 months before returning closer to my now wife. I worked as a mechanic on a renewable energy power plant, before moving too my current employment as solo operator on a 750 acre arable farm and also finishing around 300 cattle a year mainly on contract.
