Farming background

In my previous roles it involved experiences in the education and agriculture sector. I have

been a Pig Unit Manager at a college whereby I manage all aspects of pig farming, including

animal care, breeding, feeding and health management. My main objective was to ensure

high standards of animal welfare, quality and productivity within the unit. Furthermore, I had

to lead students and staff, ensuring tasks were completed correctly, directing staff and

student training in aspects of the daily operations of the pig unit. I played a significant role in

providing students with practical knowledge about the agriculture sector whereby I created a

learning environment to help students gain valuable agriculture skills, highlighting my

experience in mentoring students and overseeing and designing educational programs

whereby I fostered an environment of growth and learning. Furthermore, I was responsible

for financial management of the pig unit such as managing budgets for operations, feed and

equipment whereby a certain budget was maintained for the unit. Due to the fact the unit

was revenue generated segment of the college I know I contributed to the units financial

success. I achieved this by implementing a system within the farrowing unit due to high

mortality rates of newborn piglets during the winter months and this innovation increased

productivity and animal health showing my ability of forward thinking which is essential for

this role. I also maintained partnerships with veterinarians, butchers, abattoirs, national pig

association, farm assurance and other agriculture organisation. Due to the nature of the role,

it required communication with diverse groups such as students, faculty and external

stakeholders whereby this highlights my strong communication skills and my ability to

engage and inspire people about farming and agriculture education. I believe this previous

role demonstrates my leadership, educational, operational and strategic skills that is a solid

foundation for this position.

Previously, I have also been a Course Manager and Lecturer in Agriculture whereby my

background brings a strong combination of education leadership, curriculum design,

agricultural expertise and organisation management. In this role I have successfully

coordinated and managed a diverse range of agriculture courses, ensuring that all are

aligned with curriculum objectives and industry standards. I would like to highlight another position that I believe Is

relevant to this position whereby I was Animal Health Officer for Animal and Plant Health

Agency.

I have lot of experience with the livestock sector.
