Farming background

2011-2015 - stock person of 2500 milking goats 2014-2016 - Kingston Maurward College student - worked throughout the summer 2015 on their farm, completed duty weeks which involved milking/tractor work/yard work/sheep work, assisted with lambing over night. 2015 - Calf rearer of about 300 calves at any one time 2016 - milker of 200 cows.

I have worked part-time as a farm worker at ******Manor and ***********goat farm. I assisted with many jobs and I could take responsibility of jobs that I see needed doing. This job helps with my general skills, and has enabled me to experience life at work. I have also helped set up an agricultural show as my boss was vice chairman and chairman.

I have spent the whole of the summer 2015 working on a College Farm. This gave me great experience on a farm which is a mixed variety of arable, dairy, sheep, pigs and a small beef unit. I was able to help in all of these sectors, which enabled me to gain even more experience and knowledge.

I have worked at *********Farm which is a 350 cow dairy unit. I was mainly in charge of milking and calf rearing. During my time there I had many dealings with milk recorders and observing with AI. I also had to conduct estate works around the farm.

During my time at ***********I was the manager of their lairage. I had to deal with all the paperwork and the general running of the lairage. I worked here for 6 months until my probationary period was up and they no longer needed me.

During my evenings and weekends I have worked for The ***********as bar staff. They will often call me if they have functions on or are stuck for staff.

My recent employment was as a laboratory technician. This means I am responsible for testing all milk which is incoming and outgoing from the site.

I have completed two years at Kingston Maurward agricultural college. During this time, I completed a level 3 and level 3 extended diploma in agriculture and came away please a distinction. I have worked with a variety of animals ranging from cattle to goats.

I am a very committed person, I can manage to balance my social life with my work life while not letting my work attitude slip. I work hard and do not give up until the job is done to the correct standards. I am a good team player, and I am always looking for new ways to further my knowledge.

At college I won the Grace Selby Memorial trophy - this was for the student who contributed the most the Level 3 Agriculture.
