Other livestock experience

Head stockman - 3 years with 600 head ewes and 100 cattle. Ran the whole livestock side of the estate alone from birth to market. Rare breed stock like goats and pigs also kept. Very successful time with lessons in full farm management.

Dairy calf rearer/milker - 2 years of valuable herd experience including assisting in TB tests, dehorning, AI and health plans.

Lambing assistant - 3 years learning all aspects of sheep farming, fantastic introduction to the ups and downs of livestock farming.

Poultry - raised 400 Hatchlings to Pullets.

Other various work includes Equine yard maintenance, goats and geese rearing.

South Shropshire - Head stockman on livestock farm • Faringdon Jan 2016 Jan -2017 • 300 head autumn block calving. 100 head beef. • Full time calf rearing, milker and general farm hand including silage collection. • Trusted with many aspects of running the farm on a daily basis. Reference available from farm owner, head herdsman or agency worked through. Mar - Jul 2011/14/15 • 2000 head of sheep farm, 50 head beef. • Headed the lambing for a number of seasons and was full time in all aspects of the spring and summer season work. • Other major tasks were fencing, general maintenance, spraying, supporting shearing, caravan site upkeep. • Built a trusted relationship with the family and relied upon to take over full farm routine when required. • Also worked for a number of other local farms through contact locally as a reliable contractor. Dairy Farm, New Zealand Sep2011 Mar 2012 • Worked on 2 farms with my partner, 500 head and 1200 head respectively. • Great experience of how dairy farming is different in the South seas. • Also helped on a Maori reserve sheep and deer farm with a family I met through the dairy farm.
