Competent machine operator having driven tractors and Tele handlers from a young age on my familys dairy sheep farm and on other farms.
Competent dairy sheep flock manger on family farm. Have also worked with dairy cows from a young age and am currently a herd manager on an organic dairy farm milking 360 crossbred cows. I carry out all the AI when I am working with good pregnancy rates. I have also completed a foot trimming course and am becoming more and more competent as I build up experience. I organise all the milking rotas on the farm and work solely with a farm consultant who helps put together rations and also helps pasture management as this year is my first year using a platemeter/rotational grazing to manage grass better but we are already seeing good results.
Having grown up on a sheep farm I have vast experience in shepherding and flock management (albeit in a dairy flock system) including lambing, creating and implementing vaccination programmes, shearing, record keeping, grassland management and all that is involved in sheep farming.

I am a keen rugby player and enjoy taking part in triathlons. I also enjoy socialising with friends and family, although I enjoy the long hours of farming I also make sure to keep a healthy work life balance.

I grew up on my familys mixed farm, milking 600 sheep, making cheese and growing arable crops, I came back to the farm at 19, working full time managing the flock and the farm along side my father for 6 years before we had to leave the tenanted farm due to HS2. I now work as a herdsman on a 800 acre dairy farm, milking 360 cows, I enjoy my job and the team work in but there is little room for progression in the role I am in and therefore am looking for a new challenge.
