Farming background

Genuinely interested in the long-term health of the land and those who depend on it: I absolutely love farming. My family were agricultural engineers, running their own business in East Yorkshire. Rather than join this, I chose instead to carve my own path; gaining valuable experience and an understanding of a variety of farm businesses in the North and East of England.

As Working Farm Manager of a heavy-land estate in Suffolk I was responsible for the day-to-day operation and arable husbandry of the farm.

I've also worked as Assistant Farm Manager of a large-scale contract farming operation which involved the supervision of more staff members and contractors, with accountability for their wellbeing.

As a proactive and conscientious individual I have a proven track record of always operating in a professional and efficient manner.

Alarmed by the rate at which fertile soil is being lost; I seek to journey away from the high-input, full-tillage farming methods which were once the mainstay of my career. Since attending my first Groundswell show and following several years of research; the regenerative penny has well-and-truly dropped.

Now I can visualise spearheading an estates transition from conventional agriculture to a more resilient and highly profitable low-input system. I'll find it rewarding to help a likeminded landowner achieve this by developing my own alternative skillset and begin growing a resilient business which is far less reliant on fossil fuel-availability and ultimately more profitable.
