I have experience driving tractors and trailers, scrapping yards, rolling and topping. I have some experience with ploughing, raking baling and mowing, and would be keen to further develop my skills and gain more experience with these and other types of agricultural machinery.
While in New Zealand, I gained experience putting up new post-and-batten fencing, as well as repairing and maintaining existing fences. I also have experience installing temporary electric fencing for sheep and permanent electric fencing for cattle.
I have three years of dairy farming experience, covering a wide range of day-to-day responsibilities. This includes calf rearing, milking both as part of a team and independently, identifying signs of mastitis and other illnesses, and carrying out general herd health checks. I have experience with vaccinations and administering a range of veterinary medicines, as well as general farm maintenance and keeping the dairy and surrounding facilities in good working order.
I also have around two years of sheep farming experience in the UK, along with a further seven months of experience in New Zealand. My sheep experience includes lambing, assisting with general flock management, vaccinating, administering boluses and drenches, crutching, and other routine sheep husbandry tasks. I am comfortable working with livestock and understand the importance of maintaining good animal welfare, recognising health issues early, and working efficiently during busy periods such as lambing.
While in New Zealand, I also gained some experience working with beef cattle, including vaccinations, administering boluses and drenches, and general cattle handling and husbandry. This has given me experience working with different types of livestock and adapting to different farming systems.
I am keen to continue building on my existing experience, learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities
