• Cattle Husbandry: A good understanding of cattle biology and

behaviour. Herd health, fertility, feeding and grazing

management.

• Milking & Parlour: Operating automated milking systems,

ensuring udder hygiene, and maintaining a clean parlour to

avoid milk quality failures.

• Cattle Health & Disease Monitoring: Good skills to identify

early signs of illness, such as mastitis or lameness, and the

ability to perform basic treatments or assist veterinarians.

• Breeding & Fertility: Tasks performed include managing

calving, rearing calves, and monitoring general animal welfare.

• Nutritional: Formulating and delivering correct diet rations,

often involving operating equipment

• Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Competence in

operating farm machinery such as tractors and telehandlers.

Working knowledge of equipment to diagnose problems and basic repairs
