Milking in a 40 aside swing over from june 2020 i was appointed as manager my jobs include

• Grass management strip graving the herd

• Foot trimming 5 step dutch method

• Drying off dry cow management

• Feeding cows of a self feed system buffer feeding if necessary in dryer years

• Some tractor work i have completed topping fertilizing the grazing platform

I work as a Herdsman for Ledger Farms Ltd, with a 500 cow pedigree Holstein milking herd, which are milked twice

daily on a 50 point GEA rotary parlour, calving all year round.

My skills include:

• Preparing cows for milking whilst maintaing a clean and sanitary environment.

• Checking temperatures of milk storage tank and taking part in parlour maintenance.

• Identifying sick cows and administering the correct treatment, focusing on herd health.

• All yard work, including telehandler operations, scraping out, bedding up and pushing up food to ensure cows

have a safe and sanitary resting area.

• Identify bulling cows by sight and by analysing data from GEA Cow Scout heat detection and ensure effective

insemination is given.

• Calving and calf rearing.

• Assess cows for drying off using Dairy Plan and Uniform Agri dairy managment programs and dry off

appropriatley prior to calving.

• Fully literate in data entry into Uniform Agri using good record keeping skills to ensure medical treatments,

inseminations, cow movements and calvings are recorded.

• Working as part of a team, individually as well as taking a lead role and managing staff when needed.

• Good communication skills within the farm and liasing with outside sources such as veterinary visits,

organising for cows to go to market and milk testing.

I completed two weeks work experience at John's Sea Tackle. I completed tasks such as:

• Serving customers, stock checking and organsing the store. Within this job role I was able to develop my

organisational skills, improve my communication and customer service skills as well as maintain high

levels of time keeping and time managment to achieve tasks I was set to do.

• I worked individually and as part of team to ensure the shop ran smoothly and efficient
