Have looked after stock since 1998, firstly as a shepherd then progressing to stockman looking after both sheep and cattle, lambing both indoors and in fields and on the hill, also calving hill cattle. Have also looked after cattle in sheds over the winter months. I am also an experienced sheep shearer, have shown at local shows with some success over the years, brought out mule ewe lambs for sales, have my own flock of Bluefaced Leicesters.

I would describe myself as active and fit, in 2022 I turned 50 and I undertook a challenge for charity, the 50 4 50 where I would shear 50 sheep at every farm up both the Ettrick and Yarrow valleys. With the support of local farmers I sheared over 2200 sheep raising £8920 for both local primary schools and The Harris Trust.

indoor bowling, support the local rugby team, watch my children representing Selkirk at various sports. I have done sheep dog trailing with one of my present dogs.
