I help manage the daily care and welfare of livestock, particularly focusing on herd health, productivity, and other farm operations.

Detail of the responsibilities and duties:

oAdminister medications, vaccinations, and parasite control treatments

oArtificial insemination of our herd and other farms

oCalving Cows and Rearing young stock, including feeding, tagging and castrating.

oMaintain detailed records of herd performance, health treatments, breeding, and production

oUse farm management software Cow Manager

oRotate pastures to optimize grazing and maintain forage quality

oRepair fencing, water troughs, and other infrastructure

oMilking in 10 by 10 parlour, ensuring high milk quality and hygiene standards and resolve issues like mastitis.

oTrain and supervise farm workers, ensuring tasks are completed effectively.

oCoordinate with vets, nutritionists and buyers.

oOperate Farm Machinery and Vehicles: Scarper, Tractors, Forklift etc.

Stockman services is another aspect to my role, I go across the farms in the southeast providing services of Dehorning, Castrating, Branding and Artificial insemination. We also rescue RSPCA cases and deal with accordingly.

My role was mainly as a Milking Assistant, this entailed; Prepare and operate a robotic rotary parlour efficiently and hygienically. As part of my job, I would; Bring cows from the field or housing to the milking parlour. Wash and disinfect udders and teats before and after milking, monitoring cow behaviour to identify signs of discomfort or illness. My General Farm Duties would insist of Assist with feeding, watering, and bedding cows. Help with other farm tasks, such as calving assistance, pasture management, or general cleaning. My role played a crucial role in ensuring smooth milking operations and maintaining milk quality and herd welfare.
