Other livestock experience

Have been working on dairy and mixed farms since a young age. I did a 2 year apprenticeship on a small mixed farms in kingsworthy to then go onto a larger dairy farm in Charlton just outside of Winchester. Both jobs had the same tasks from moving and handling young stock and the main dairy herds sorting bedding for the replacements and doing animal welfare tasks ie cleaning water troughs bedding down ether straw or sand for cubicle sheds.

Ive done a lot of calvings in the 6 years and have had many different challenges when it comes to calving but as normal there are some that done go to plan which leads to post calving problems like being lame or unable to stand or needing a course of antibiotics.

Ive been in the industry from a young age thanks to my family owning a small holding just outside of Winchester which has given me the step up I needed to get into the agriculture industry learning how crops are grow to learning how to move cows.

I also attended sparsholt college for 4 years doing level 1&2 agriculture to the go into doing a two year apprenticeship through the college
