Farming background

"I began my agricultural career at Hadlow College in 1986/87, where I gained a solid foundation in farming practices. Following my studies, I undertook numerous lambing positions and then secured a shepherding role on a farm managing 500 Mule ewe lambs, where I worked for approximately three years. I then spent two years working on a dairy farm, gaining valuable experience with livestock management outside of sheep farming.

After that, I took on the role of Farm Manager at a rare breeds farm, overseeing sheep and other traditional livestock for around five years. I then moved to Devon to work as a shepherd on an organic farm, further developing my skills in sustainable and welfare-focused practices. From there, I accepted a shepherding position in Kent, where I have remained for the past 14 years, managing a large flock and handling all aspects of flock care throughout the farming year."
