Brought up on mix livestock farms all of my childhood.
After leaving school I went to get a trade that took me to Scottish and southern energy where I completed a modern apprenticeship and HNC and progressed up to role of Engineer over my 13years. In 2020 I decided I would like to get back into farming again.
2020 to 2025 Stockperson on hill farm in west of Scotland caring for 2400 Blackface Sheep, mostly pure with cast ewes being crossed with BFL or NCC on low ground.
150 cattle comprising of Pedigree Beef Shorthorn, Highland and SHX selling SHX heifers with limx calfs at foot.
I carried out all record keeping movement book, medicine etc. keeping records on Shearwell FarmWorks software.
Budgeting, costs for taking lambs and cattle through to finishing weight.
2025 to 2026 Stockperson on low ground farm in east coast of Scotland, looking after 200 Stabiliser Cattle on organic farm. Closed heard, bringing cattle to finishing weight. In this role I was involved in Broccoli harvest along with cabbage, cauliflowers, flax and potatoes. It was a very varied role.
Always changing to stay current.
I am currently working with Scottish and Southern Energy again since February this year as a control and instrumentation engineer but looking to get back into farming again.

Working on mix livestock farms as a teenager, first job was sawmill operator. Then went on to an apprenticeship with an Energy Company progressing to role of engineer. Looking after the Control and instrumentation aspect for over 250MW of renewable energy. I left the Energy Company in 2020 to start my career in agriculture.
