Farming background

Herdsman assistant and GFW.

Reporting to Farm owner and Herdsman, daily duties entail calf and youngstock care. Ensuring newborn calves receive first milk and train to bucket through to weaning and all general husbandry including bedding, mucking out, ensuring welfare of animals. Have assisted in disbudding, dehorning and calving. Dairy duties include understanding and operating robotics milking system and assisting herdsman in welfare of cows to include foot trimming, stomach pump of cows. AI, drying off and tagging. Previous to robotic milking also have experience in using a herring bone milking parlour. I also have gained some experience in tractor operations to include topping, slurry tanking, mowing, ploughing and power harrowing.
