Hobbies

My interests include sound animal welfare, conservation and the environment. I support the idea of working with and not against nature in farming techniques and enjoy sharing the outdoors with all its wildlife. I have always had a strong connection to communities and have been involved in organising many events; often benefiting local and national charities and always promoting good sustainable practise. I also carriage driving (once drove Dover to lands end for fun) and enjoy walking my dog to the comforts of a log fire down a country pub. I also am interested in history, theatre and travel. I have travelled through Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, India, Cuba, Australia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand and China. I have also lived and worked on farms in Austria and Greece, learning some German in Austria. I recently volunteered on a permaculture farm in Panama; living in amongst the howler monkeys, whilst inputting water swales and learning the ecosystem benefits of living fences.

As a consultant I worked alongside the families improving health and live weight gain of the local black pig. The long-term objective was to improve the quality of pork whilst developing supply chains to more affluent markets above and beyond local trade. With small economic improvement, the overarching goal was to encourage a younger generation of farmers to remain in the rural regions, decreasing the age gap of the communities and reducing the rural to urban shift. The farm tries to function being as sustainable with produce sold in the onsite farm shop and local farmers markets. My responsibilities included; Responsibility of familys dairy herd and its followers, promotion of products to local and wider communities, engagement and building of community through events ands and group workdays, Networking events and national conferences and the management of holistic grazing and its continuation August 2011 to 2013 Proprietor In 2011 I introduced horse drawn town tours to Stratford upon-Avon.
