Ranch Hand (April-September 2024)

Ole Farms -Athabasca, Alberta, Canada

•Gained huge cattle management experience as a ranch hand at Ole Farms, Canadas largest pedigree Angus operation.

•Solely responsible for calving a herd of 400 cows, including tasks such as tagging, DNA sampling, recording weight and scoring the dams udder and feet. As well as assisting with a further 1000 calving cows.

•Medicating sick calves and cows, moving cattle on horseback, branding, vaccinations, semen testing bulls, and assisting with the fixed time artificial insemination of 1,500 breeding cows.

Corn Carter (June-September 2023)

GW Topham & Sons- St. Neotts, Cambridgshire

•Responsible for carting grain on 13,000 acres of arable land during summer harvest.

•Drove tractors and operated other equipment correctly without endangering drivers and others in working environment.

Lambing Contractor (March-April 2023)

Nesbit Farm & Harehope Farm- Wooler and Alnwick, Northumberland

•Completed contract indoor lambing work for two weeks at Nesbit Farm, lambing 600 ewes. Then continued for three weeks at Harehope Farm, lambing 1,000 ewes.

Dairy Farm Hand (January 2021-March 2022)

•Relief milking alongside my university studies.

•Completed a 500-hour work placement at the dairy farm with 650 milkers and 1,000 youngstock and beef, which continued to become a case study farm for my dissertation project.

•Tasks included milking, calf rearing, heat detection, weighing beef cattle, TB testing, scraping, fencing, assisting the vet, and general farm duties.

Assistant Shepherdess (June-August 2020)

•Assistant shepherdess to a flock of 2,000 mainly cheviot cross ewes and tups, and 1,500 lambs at an upland sheep farm.
