Worked on farms all my life
I've got a real passion for sheep and I'm used to running large numbers of sheep. Me and my partner went up to Scotland for lambing this year and assisted in lambing 1600 ewes. Mainly scotch blackface and mules. We used to run a mix of ewes on our family farm. Horned ewes put to the Leicester to breed mules and a continental flock for fat lambs and bred our own replacements. I have worked on cattle to both beef and dairy and we used to run blues and Herefords and lims on our family farm. Im currently working on a farm with around 300 cattle plus young stock and 1500 breeding ewes that are Romneys plus lambs. I've got my nap-sac ticket, buying spray and spraying within water courses. I have my brush cutter and trimmer ticket too and I did have my emergency first aid +F but I think that has expired now. I know my way around tractors and im happy to help with any aspects if im needed to. I've done corn cart, bale cart, tedding and rowing up and rolling. I can use loadalls as we run a manitou and a JCB but I don't have the ticket for it. I've not used GPS a lot but im a quick learner and im sure I can learn. I have a part trained dog that drives and needs working and a pup to bring on. The only reason im looking for another job is because my current boss has changed the job description and it would mean I wouldn't have anything to do with the sheep. The people I did lambing for in Scotland and my current boss are willing to give me references.
Ive had quite a few other jobs as well such as working part time with a fencing contractor, large scale dairy farms and other large sheep farms.

We used to run a mix of ewes on our family farm. Horned ewes put to the Leicester to breed mules and a continental flock for fat lambs and bred our own replacements. I have worked on cattle to both beef and dairy and we used to run blues and Herefords and lims on our family farm. we used to do everything in house from mole trapping to fencing and drystone walling. All shearing was done by myself as was the mowing, tedding, rowing and baling. All stock was bought by myself and my father with attention to detail. We also rented a lot of land to feed the growing number of sheep we used to have which I pushed to do in order to increase numbers and the quality of the animals. All animals records were done by myself and my father.
Interests and hobbies
Love playing sports and working with animals, especially sheep. I like driving tractors and always strive to be better.
I have a passion for sheep for as long as I can remember and I love it. I dont think of it as a job as its a lifestyle choice. If I could spend all day everyday working with sheep Id be a happy man. I like to keep an accurate count of the stock in my care so I know what I have, where and what needs to be done.
