I have been working on the family farm since I was young. I have now gained experience in most arable operations including ploughing, primary cultivations using a Challenger MT765C. Vari-rate fertiliser applications using Trimble FMX GPS guidance. Seeding of arable crops using Challenger MT765C and a MF 7620. I’ve developed workshop skills through practical work on the farm and in college. During the winter of 2016 I completely stripped down all wearing parts on our 4.5m Sumo Trio and replaced with new. This project involved me using a Plasma Cutter and a MIG Welder. With the experience I have gained I am fully aware of daily routine maintenance requirements for all the equipment I have operated, these include Fendt, John Deere, MF, JCB and Manitou loaders and Claas tractors.
I have worked three weeks in the summer of 2014 in Lincolnshire. I was part of their harvest team, responsibilities including grain cart, moving 40ft header trailers, grain handling with telescopic loaders and tractor mounted loaders at various farm sites. Summer 2015, worked in Beds, main duties grain carting. Summer/ Autumn 2015, back at home drilling rape and wheat with new strip till MZURI drill for ourselves and contract customers. November to middle of December 2015, travelled to NZ, North Island, Pukekohe. Varied work included yard duties and potato harvesting and general tractor driving. Unfortunately I had to return home for my grandmother’s funeral. After my return home, I worked on the family farm, mainly operating a Caterpillar 308C digger, cleaning and repairing ditches and building new field access bridges, erecting new gates and fencing, as well as fertiliser applications, and preparing harvesting equipment and stores. February 2016: Completed and passed a chainsaw course at Shuttleworth College, Beds. In July 2016 I became self-employed, working for several employers in order to expand my farming experience. My work covered anything from fencing, ditching and mechanical hedge cutting to farming operations including ground prep, drilling, fertilizer application and running a chaser bin and trailer management through harvest . I was employed through the 2017 harvest, cultivation and drilling season which involved some combining, first and secondary cultivation and drilling with a John Deere drill. From April 2018 I have been employed as a sole employee covering all farming operations including spraying, cultivations and combining. At the end of October 2018 I left in order to travel to Australia having taken a harvest job with in Newdegate, WA. This is a 12,000ha farm where I was one of three combine drivers, driving a John Deere 680i Combine with a 45ft header. We covered Wheat, Barley, Canola and Oats. I also worked with 4500 ewes, involving moving, splitting and drenching activities. I left in the middle of December after harvest had finished. To go traveling around New Zealand till drilling season was getting near back in Australia. At the beginning of April 2019 I was given the job of seeder driver on a Cat Challenger mt875e with a 58ft drill bar, with a 32 tonne seed box on the back. After drilling, I returned home to get ready for my summer job.
