Farming background

My grandparents owned a 500acre sheep farm in South wales started here helping out from a young age mainly livestock husbandry skills. Farm was sold when I was still in school around the age of 12/13. Started my Bachelors degree at Writtle College 2013, worked my first harvest in 2015 at farms in Essex large mixed arable and livestock unit with small beef finishing herd .Mainly grain carting as well as grain store preparations/cleaning and using elevators also had the opportunity to help with some silage and stock work. My second harvest 2016 was spent working at Buckminster Estate near Grantham this was a fully arable unit, here I was once again grain carting along with a large proportion of time working in the grain stores with a tele handler managing the storage programme. After Graduating I went to Australia and straight into their grain harvest working in Western Aus here my practical skills improved vastly along with getting the opportunity to use a wide variety of machinery and larger equipment. I was mainly driving a 40tonn chaser bin chasing three combines throughout the harvest period. Other duties included maintenance and up keep of all machinery, stock work with large flock of merinos and other general work such as fencing and fabrication. I went on to work at the farm for drilling where I was mainly working nights I was responsible for calibrating seed/fert general up keep of all the equipment I was using and following a strict seeding programme along with using GPS equipment. I also carried out some cultivation work using off set discs. The last harvest I was involved with was also on a mixed unit here again I was driving a chaser bin along with relief combine driving and other general farm work.
