We are looking for a herdsperson to join our young team to assist with the care and management of our 200 cow spring block and our 400 cow autumn block herds and their associated youngstock.  Main duties will be milking once a day and then any other herdsmen related activities as may be required.  Experience in looking after cows would be useful but good training can be provided.  Enthusiasm and reliability is essential.  Working as part of a team, so the ability to get on with people is also important.  Good opportunity for someone to gain experience in grazing management and cow care in a large herd situation while working in a friendly enviroment.  The position can be either a five or five and a half day week.  Every other week end off. Protective clothing supplied. 28 days holiday including bank holidays.  We are a member of the Profiteers Herdsman Group which meet once a month for discussion and/or industry leading training.  They mainly meet on group members farms to look at particlar aspects of that business that are working well (or not) from a herdsmens point of view.

Three bedroom bungalow on farm.  The farm is two miles from nearest pub and 6 miles from Newark Northgate train station on the East Coast Line.  Nearest supermarkets, restaurants, takeaways, etc. in Southwell which is 3 miles away.

This will be a good position for someone interested in experience of working in a small team looking after a large herd of cows trying to maximise the use of grazed grass. Grassland on both light and heavy areas of the farm.  Self feed silage of Autumn in calf heifers and Autumn group of cows in winter
