Autumn cultivations Operative job in <:>Huntingdon<:> heavily integrated with onion irrigation, topping hovering & harvesting with 600 acres wheat.

Farm TypeArable, Contractor

This is a late call because the young man we had has some family issues.  We require an enthusiastic, responsible loyal young person to help on a 450 ha family farm.  The job involves, grain carting, off CR9090, store management and recording, and autumn cultivations on a T.7 210.  If you show promise we would like you to work a 450 Solo on a Cat 765B.  Further, you will also be involved in onion irrigation until harvest.  3 reels and 2 pumps; it involves patience and stamina.  If you are a hot head, then this job probably isn't for you.  You will also be topping and hoovering onions with front and rear kit on Ford T.6 165.  Finally you will be using 12 m end tow rolls with integrated Avadex.  Sat Nav knowledge would be an advantage as we use Trimble RTK with our own mast.  We also have some contracting work with wheat and beans.

We are a small team working alongside me who is the boss, and one other permanent team member.  We don't work Sundays at all irrespective of weather, but we do expect high hours in the week.  You are supplied with a cooked meal every night, (the Mrs cooks it) and accommodation is in a newly built fully kitchened 2 bed bunkhouse. (You may have to share).

This job offers a superb opportunity to learn about milling wheat, osr and onions, with hopefully a chance to get involved working with more kit, than you might get on a larger farm.  If you want to be on the phone all day, or facebook, don't apply.  But if you are passionate about growing things, time and motion and attention to detail then this could be for you.  Some tractor experience would be useful, but not essential,,,,, however you would need to be a quick learner.  Further, we do want someone with initiative.  Priority will be given to applicants who can stay to the end of September or 1st week in October.

I am a decent fair boss, and not a slave driver, and expect a high level of respect and decency in return.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards Richard (51 and grey).  Married with two kids.
